All About Rainforests
What makes a rainforest?A rainforest is an unique biome, essential to the balance of the world's ecosystems. Rainforests need very specific climates. Sometimes they need a cold, misty climate; others need a hot, humid climate that is a forever summer. Some of them even have trees that last for several millenia, others, trees that last only a few centuries. There are also a few different types of rainforest (You can find out about this further down the page).
There are also five main points that make a forest into a rainforest.
What different types of Rainforest are there? There are two main types of rainforests, tropical and temperate. Tropical rainforests are the ones that are near the Equator. Temperate rainforests tend to be further away from the Equator, and also on the western side of their country. Some people make it slightly complicated by adding sub-tropical and sub-temperate among others, but sticking with the main two, there are 4 main differences that make them differ from each other. One main difference is that while the tropical rainforests are in humid areas, the temperate rainforests are mainly in cold climates. Another difference is that tropical rainforests tend to have more biodiversity than the temperate. Tropical rainforests also have more layers in their canopy, and they also get more rainfall than temperate ones.
